It's basic, but it works! 12.23.2006
Django is now all set up.
It is being served with Apache2 via mod_python. Static files (located at media.nodnod.net) are handled by lighttpd. For a while, I was trying to set up nginx, but decided that lighttpd would serve my purposes for now.
(It's not like I get too many visitors. But hey, you gotta start somewhere.)
Markdown is fully integrated, with each post converting source Markdown text into HTML versions in the database. Comments are not enabled, but with Django's FreeComments, it shouldn't be too hard.
Django's templating feature makes this almost too easy. I spent more time configuring Apache virtual hosts than writing the blog application.
So! Here's to more. I have lots of things I want to try doing, so we'll see how it pans out.
