Life on Mars series finale 04.11.2007

The ending to Life on Mars is quite possibly the most satisfying ending I’ve ever seen on television. It fits perfectly within the context of the show and leaves just enough ambiguity to make you think and wonder after the credits roll.

DCI Gene Hunt is probably my favorite character in the series, and news that a spin-off is being made with him in it makes me happy.

The most important thing is that kudos really needs to be given to BBC series that know when to end.

The producers of Life on Mars said that they’d end it in two seasons. Unlike Lost and Prison Break and a variety of other shows (BSG, alas, is fast on its way to being included in this number), the show doesn’t drag on and on and on with no end or resolution in sight.

Life on Mars was short and to the point.
