Redesign 03.24.2007
I tried. I really tried liking high contrast light-on-dark layouts. They always look good to me initially; it’s only once it exits Photoshop and exists in code that I begin to notice that there’s always something off.
I just fee more comfortable with a layout that has no explicit bounding boxes, that’s mostly white and empty space.
I’m still undecided about the vertical text on the left side. It add’s a little bit of visual flair, but might be too busy — too much text on the page.
In any case, I’m much happier with this design than the previous two light-on-dark iterations.
It’s far from finished.
Beneath the somewhat completed front page lies a morass of plaintext and unstyled markup. I’ll get to them eventually.
